2023-2024 Meal Charge Policy

Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals

Our school participates in the National School Lunch Program, and offers free meals to all students. All families are encouraged to submit a meal application by the first week of school – one application per household is needed. Families can at any time submit a new application if there is a change in the household income or family household number. Applications can be accessed in the front office, and from our website below.

Meal Charge Policy

Hawking STEAM Charter School does not charge full paid or reduced-price students for meals. Families are still alerted of their eligibility, but are aware that they will not need to pay if their child wants meals.

Eligibility Determination Criteria

Eligibility is based on the household income and number of people living in the home.

If you receive food stamps, California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWorks), CalFresh (also known as the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or benefits from the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), your child may receive free meals at school. We encourage you to apply by filling out a brief application.
MealTime Apply Online is a secure and convenient way to apply for free and reduced meals benefits from the privacy of your home. You'll know your application was submitted completely and accurately, and your school will be able to make a determination of eligibility without delay.
