Executive Director's Message

Welcome to Hawking STEAM Charter Schools. It is my honor and privilege to serve as the Executive Director of Hawking STEAM Charter Schools.

 

I have always loved education and learning. It is a passion that I hope to inspire in every student and throughout the community we serve. I grew up in Los Angeles as the daughter of Mexican immigrants who came to this country to provide a better life for their children. As the first in my family to attend college, I experienced firsthand the opportunities that education can create. That experience continues to shape my work and my commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.

 

Before joining Hawking in 2013, I spent fourteen years in the classroom and was honored to be recognized as Teacher of the Year twice. While those recognitions were meaningful, the greatest reward was helping students discover their potential and achieve success. My commitment to lifelong learning ultimately led me to earn a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, strengthening my belief that exceptional schools are built through outstanding teaching, strong leadership, and an unwavering commitment to students.

 

In 2013, I joined Hawking to open Hawking 2 as its founding principal. Together with an incredible team of educators, we welcomed our first 140 students. I later became Executive Director and have had the privilege of leading Hawking's continued growth into two thriving TK–8 campuses serving more than 1,300 students. Although we have grown, our purpose has remained the same: to provide an innovative, rigorous, and student-centered education where every child is known, challenged, and supported.

 

Throughout my career, one belief has remained constant: every decision should begin with what is best for students. That belief guides our work every day as we provide meaningful learning experiences, build strong partnerships with families, and prepare students for success in high school, college, career, and life.

 

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible school community and for the students, families, educators, staff, and community members who make Hawking such a special place.
